More Great Music
We are lucky to have so many talented musicians in our area, doing so many fantastic things. Why not check out what our friends below are doing?
Chester Music Society

CMS present more than 20 concerts and musical events in Chester each year, including a regular 'celebrity' series. They also run the annual Chester Young Musician of the Year competition.
Chester Music Society Choir
The Chester Music Society Choir is a community choir of 150 members. The Choir draws singers from Chester and the surrounding district and gives five concerts each year in the beautiful location of Chester Cathedral, drawing from a repertoire of major choral classics, oratorio and smaller works.
Chester Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1884, Chester Philharmonic Orchestra is a non-professional orchestra based in Chester. They hold regular concerts performing a wide range of orchestral music with experienced conductors, internationally acclaimed soloists and rising stars from top music colleges.
The orchestra performs four or five concerts a year, including an annual carol concert with Chester Music Society. These concerts usually take place in the magnificent setting of Chester Cathedral. Their repertoire maintains a balance between challenging and familiar works to produce varied programmes throughout our season of concerts.
Chester Philharmonic Orchestra is a registered charity (no. 1181355) and is self-funded through member subscriptions, Box Office concerts sales and other fundraising activities.
Chester Sinfonia
Chester Sinfonia has earned a reputation as being one of the fastest growing amateur orchestras in the Cheshire/North Wales area. Since 2018, they have been under the baton of Helen Thomas, who has done a fantastic job of developing the Sinfonia’s unique spirit of being a friendly orchestra for keen and enthusiastic intermediate players.
Here's what the orchestra have to say about themselves:
'We’d like to think we are unique in a couple of ways:
-
There is no pressure to perform as we don’t do concerts (other than the odd charitable event or social occasion for family and friends)
-
We only rehearse once a fortnight on a Friday evening from 7 pm – 9 pm
We play symphonies and other music suitable for a smaller orchestra, with recent repertoire including works by Haydn, Schubert, Brahms and Bizet.
We’re all about just having the opportunity to gather together and play great music, having a fun experience, whilst hopefully improving our playing along the way!'
